Mighty Crystal Tower

Day 32

I spotted this little icicle as I was leaving work. I got lots of looks essentially laying in the snow to get this shot. Worth it.

Day 31

Not many good pictures today. This was heavily cropped. I like the color.

Day 29

I didn’t expect this photo to be the best of the bunch, but there you go.

Day 28

Sometimes the photo is right outside my door. We have a bit of an ice problem out back at the moment. It’s not fun to walk on, but it makes for a good picture.

Day 26

Another thing I walk by every day. Today I photographed it. Have I mentioned how much I love my Nikkor 35mm f/1.8? Yeah, I do.

Lawrence Bench

Day 25

As I was coming home on the bus, we went by the Lawrence University campus. I saw this bench. I see this bench pretty much every day. Today I noticed it. After getting dropped off, I wandered over to the campus to try and capture it. I’m pleased with the result.

Day 24

I wandered around downtown tonight and noticed this sticker next to a mural. It was too amazing to ignore. I took about 20 photos of it trying to get the right perspective and lighting. I think this ended up being the best. I love the clarity. I hope you do too.

Packers Win

Day 22

Watching the Packers defeat the Bears at Bazil’s Pub. The atmosphere was pretty electric and fun. I can’t wait to do it again in two weeks…somewhere. That bar is really great for candid portraits. Bouncing the flash of the ceiling creates some really nice soft light.

Day 21

It was a good night at the bar. This wasn’t even the best shot.  The lighting was so great when I bounced the speedlite off the ceiling.  Not to mention, I got to see a good friend of mine for the first time since her wedding in August.  Yes, that’s her.

Winners Circle

Day 20

Shot from work at dawn. I really liked the light coming in the window and reflecting off the wall of awards.

The Roof

Day 19

Sunset over Downtown Appleton. Taken from the top of a parking ramp. It was very cold up there, but I stuck it out and got a nice series of shots.  This one was the best.

Winter Boots

January 19 (fixed)

Day 18.

I walk down this hallway every day at least twice a day. I’ve never taken a picture of it. I stood on the steps so I could get the shot at floor height.

Also, it’s crooked. I’ve fixed it since, but I haven’t re-uploaded it yet.

Alright, this is the final version.  Cropped, straightened, and cleaned up.  I’m happy with it.

Snow Day

Day 16

I wondered down to Jones Park while it was snowing. I was cold, my camera was getting wet, and in retrospect, I probably could have gotten this shot after the snow had stopped falling.

Now, I’m going to snuggle up with a cup of coffee and read a book.

Winner Winner, Fish Dinner

This is a reworked photo from my Holden Beach vacation. I’m much happier with it now.

Piper

Taking pictures of puppies is HARD. They never stop moving.

How to proceed with this shot?

Ignore the fact that the picture is crooked for a moment.  I’m having difficulty deciding on a crop for this photo.  I also don’t know if I prefer color or black and white.  I like them all!

By the way, I got guite a few nice shots (including this one) from the Heckrodt shoot.  I’m glad I waited a bit to look at them.  I feel like I can be more objective when I’ve sort of “forgot” about the pictures for a bit.  There will be more incoming.

Tracked

TrackedI took my new 70-300mm lens there to see what I could see.  I could see quite a lot, unfortunately I don’t know how to take actual photographs with it.  Everything ended up blurry or horribly grainy.  This is pretty much the only shot that come out.  I need to play with my camera settings to try and fix this.  It’s a sweet lens, but if I don’t learn how to use it, it’s useless to me.

Anyway, I love  1000 Islands.  I saw eagles and many ducks and took many crappy pictures of them.
