Hit the Deck
This summer was an active severe weather season for Appleton. I spent a good portion of these events on top of parking ramps praying I didn’t die from a lightning strike. These sessions produced some striking images, some of which ended up on TV.
To say I wasn’t nervous on top of those parking ramps is absurd. I don’t know what the fuck I was thinking. Getting these photos on TV after there fact is probably what drove me to the top of that ramp the next time. I think there was about 6 images that made it on FOX 11 by the end of the summer. It’s probably my most impressive accomplishment as far as my photography goes. Looking back, it wasn’t worth it. Looking forward, I’d do it again.
How to proceed with this shot?
Ignore the fact that the picture is crooked for a moment. I’m having difficulty deciding on a crop for this photo. I also don’t know if I prefer color or black and white. I like them all!
By the way, I got guite a few nice shots (including this one) from the Heckrodt shoot. I’m glad I waited a bit to look at them. I feel like I can be more objective when I’ve sort of “forgot” about the pictures for a bit. There will be more incoming.
